Why No One is Watching Your Video Content

So let’s presume you did it. You’ve successfully posted your first series of marketing videos. You wrote the script, did the filming, editing and the uploaded it to corresponding online platforms. But that doesn’t end there. Ever wondered why no one is watching your video content? What happened and where did you go wrong? If you still don’t know, below is a list of the many reasons that are keeping your viewers away.

  • Your videos are too long.

It’s hard to grab people’s attention nowadays, so how long should your marketing videos be? To be precise, it’s about eight seconds. People don’t seem to watch videos that are too long; instead they prefer short videos with less than a minute inlength. Short videos are way better for most people, but this doesn’t mean that you're limited to eight seconds. The point is that you make sure that the first few seconds of the video are highly engaging to grab the viewers’ attention. This way, they'll continue watching until the end.

  • You are showing the videos to the wrong audience.

Everyone loves puppies but what does this topic have to do with your brand? It’s a question you need to ask first before proceeding with the creation of your visual content. It's possible to incorporate puppies into your brand, but another thing you have to consider is its relevance to your target audience.

If you set out into your video marketing strategy, one of the important things to think about is what your target demography wants to watch – target people include both current and prospective individuals. Be aware that diferent generations consume content different, so forget about entertainment. First, ask what specific things could be helpful for your audience? What is that thing which can surely grab their attention?

  • You are uploading to the wrong channels.

Most marketers think that YouTube is a promising channel to post your videos on. This is true, but it doesn’t mean it’s the only effective platform your can utilize. There are other places where you can find your target audience and be able to reach them. According to a survey, 45% of people watch more than an hour of videos on Facebook and YouTube. On top of that, Facebook is considered the most popular social media channel. So if you wish to better reach out your audience, you might need to upload your videos to both YouTube and Facebook.

According to studies, there are online users who can’t live without YouTube and this group of people love to spend more time on this channel than on Facebook. Therefore, it’s necessary to define your target audience and determine the various segments your audience spend their time while being online.
