With the increasing popularity of social media comes the increase in marketing being leveraged across these platforms. Businesses have realized the infinite potential of social media as a form of marketing. Almost all businesses are slowly jumping on the social media bandwagon, and they should be.

It is way easier to find and sell to target audiences through social media but it is never easy to identify one. Social media may open an infinite number of resources at our fingertips, making them respond to marketing campaigns is an entirely different story.

As it continues to grow, you must be aware of the latest trends. Here are four social media marketing trends to incorporate this 2021.

1. Stories Over Feed Posts

Even LinkedIn also jumped on the story bandwagon because more and more people are opting to view stories rather than scroll through their newsfeed. Posting stories is more exciting because they give more of a glimpse into people’s everyday lives. Following a person through stories makes it feel like you have seen them in real life and you actually know them. This is a great way to build unbreakable bonds with your audience.

2. Short-Form Storytelling

Most of our attention spans as a collective are getting shorter and shorter, which means most people simply don’t have the time or patience to watch a five to ten-minute video without scrolling further down their feed. It is recommended to condense content down to 90 seconds or less to keep your audience interested enough to not scroll past. This is also the reason why Instagram reels and TikToks are powerful because they are short, entertaining, and a perfect example of visual, short-form storytelling.

3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ad-Tracking

With the continuous evolution of technology, businesses should also catch up with Artificial Intelligence tracking. AI-tracking is something that is currently being tested and has been seen to effectively help companies with their marketing campaigns. Businesses have been spending a lot of time and energy on optimization to ensure they outperform their competitors without spending too much. Optimizing ads using AI will significantly reduce the cost per lead and ultimately make you more money.

4. Connection and Community

The pandemic taught us that we, as humans, crave connection more than ever. It is essential to stay connected with customers. Big brands know that the best way to build a brand is to create a community behind it. This can come in the form of joining the live stream of someone they look up to or being in a Facebook group of like-minded individuals. Try to look for new and refreshing ways to create a community that makes the audience feel included and valued.

Social media has definitely passed the test of time and has been shown to stay. One thing to remember is that it is a powerful tool and you need to look for ways to use it to its full potential. Keep up with all the latest trends, incorporate them in your strategy, and most importantly, be consistent with your voice.
